How to help people who have Cardiomyopathy around me?
Support Groups
Support Groups exist in many forms for people of all ages. There are online groups, in person groups, and phone lines for people with heart diseases and specifically cardiomyopathy.
Support groups often help the patient connect with people who've gone through or are going through what they are going through, and can relieve the patient's stress because they see people going through the same thing.
Monitor these Patients During Sports
Athletes with underlying heart diseases are most susceptible to SCD. Monitoring children and adults and screening for these underlying diseases can potentially save lives.
We can identify people to get screened for potential underlying heart disease by looking at things like their breathlessness before physical activity, their energy level, their heart palpitations and more.
Patients with known cardiomyopathy are also at risk while playing sports or doing a large amount of physical activity, and should be constantly monitored by people around them. They also should ask their doctor before participating in any sports activities.
